install Information
1) Install Oblivion, but don't worry about expansions, updates or anything else.
2) Run Oblivion once DO NOT TOUCH THE DATA AREA and set all video settings the way you want. This will create the required oblivion.ini.
3) Copy everything from the enhanced edition into the Oblivion directory on your hard drive.
4) Replace the fonts section in your oblivion.ini located in user-> documents-> my games -> oblivion folder, with the following so that the ui works correctly.
[Fonts]
SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Regular.fnt
sfontfile_2=Data\Fonts\DarN_Kingthings_Petrock_14.fnt
sfontfile_3=Data\Fonts\DarN_Kingthings_Petrock_16.fnt
sfontfile_4=Data\Fonts\DarN_Oblivion_28.fnt
SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt
4A) Open the oblivion
mod manager and make sure all of the ESP mods are ticked in the left box and the mods are blue on the right. Then exit...
4B) Run the Boss file in the data directory.
5) Always run the game with obse_loader.exe, which is located in the Oblivion directory on your HDD now.You must start the game with this file from now until you delete the game.
6) It is important that the first time you run the game that you set up your leveling system by casting "alter destiny" which should be available now in your spell/power list. The manual for the leveling system is here... KCAS This only becomes available after exiting the initial dungeon.
7) Also, the first time you run the game, you should look in your inventory for Deadly Reflex Reset, as it will allow you to change the hotkeys for your special moves such as bash, kick and dodge. Otherwise it will default to "R" for bash, "Q" for dodge and "Z" will remain as grab/kick. Deadly Reflex will automatically start asking you about buttons if you are starting a new character.
Everything else should be pre-configured if I have done everything correctly, and will not require any changes from the user. Your saved games and general settings will not be effected, as that stuff is located within your Documents folder. Hopefully everything works as it is supposed to, but as with everything your mileage may vary. All rights and credit for all modifications remains with their original authors. Seriously, this was never meant to be anything but a release for my friends, and is never meant to see general release.
There may be the occasional small bug, but I have not encountered anything that I would call a showstopper or even annoying. Hopefully your luck is as good as mine.
You can always add your own mods, but you should activate the
mod or ESP in oblivion
mod manager, then run BOSS.exe (located in the data folder)to put the
mod in the correct load order, then rebuild the bashed patch, and everything should be cool.
Sometimes the game will hang on exit. It doesn't on my rig, but some have complained. That is pretty much normal for Oblivion though. If that happens... you can just run Oblivion exiter located here.
